Эти упражнения из цикла «Грамматика английского языка для начинающих. Времена английского глагола» помогут вам научиться различать Present Simple и Present Continuous на практике.  Они делятся на три уровня изучения:

I уровень: подсказка — временные выражения;
II уровень: подсказка — контекст (ситуация).
III уровень: подсказка — глагол.

Грамматика английского языка для начинающих. Времена

Present Simple или Present Continuous. Упражнения (уровень I)

ВНИМАНИЕ! Эти подсказки работают только в настоящем времени (когда глагол-действие отвечает на вопрос: Что делает предмет?)

Запомните еще две подсказки на Present Continuous Tense

today — сегодня днем

tonight — сегодня вечером

Упражнение 1. Выберите из скобок нужную форму. Объясните сделанный выбор.

1. It sometimes (snows/is snowing) here in April. 2. It (snows/is snowing) now. 3. Every morning mother (cooks/is cooking) breakfast for us. 4. It is 8 o’clock now. Mother (cooks/ is cooking) breakfast. 5. Every day father (leaves/is leaving) the house at half past eight. 6. Now it is half past eight. Father (leaves/is leaving) the house. 7. We often (watch/are watching) TV. 8. Now we (sit/ are sitting) in armchairs and (watch/are watching) TV. 9. Sometimes Mike (does/is doing) his lessons in the evening. 10. Look at Mike. Упражнение 2. Поставьте глаголы в скобках в нужном времени и в нужной форме.

1. Не often (go) to the cinema. 2. They (watch) TV at the moment. 3. She (write) letters to her mother every week. 4. Nina usually (drive) to work. 5. Father (sit) on the sofa now. 6. Listen. The telephone (ring). 7. Tim (study) a new language every year. 8. We always (spend) the summer in York. 9. In summer we usually (go) to the seaside. 10. Look at Tom. He (ride) a horse. 11. Упражнение 3. Заполните пропуски, используя don’t, doesn’t, isn’t, aren’t или am not.

Present Simple или Present Continuous. Упражнения

(уровень II)

В этих предложениях не всегда есть подсказки (временные выражение). Подсказкой может являться сама ситуация  — КОНТЕКСТ.  Попробуйте представить, происходит ли данное действие в настоящем времени (вы как бы видите эту картинку) — Present Continuous или действие повторяется изо дня в день — Present Simple.

Упражнение 6. Поставьте глаголы, данные в скобках, в нужном времени.

1. My brother (talk) to Tom now. 2. Не (work) hard every day. 3. That girl (speak) English very well. 4. My friend (enjoy) hamburgers very much. 5. John and Frank (write) letters at this moment. 6.  The children (sleep) for two hours every afternoon. 7. It (rain) very much in autumn. 8. Miss Peters (talk) to Mr Johnson right now. 9. We (do) Exercise 13. 10. My mother (cook) very well.

Упражнение 7. Найдите ошибки и исправьте их.

1. Where your sister work? 2. I’m go to the cinema tonight. 3. How much you sleep? 4. We no wear a uniform at school. 5. That’s my brother over there. He stands near the window. 6.  Claire not like oranges.  7. Sorry. You can’t speak to Jane. She’s sleep. 8.  My friend live in Great Britain. 9. Peter’s a businessman. He’s working all over the world. 10. Please don’t make noise. I study.

Упражнение 8. Переведите на английский язык.

1. Я люблю апельсиновый сок. Я всегда пью его по утрам.

2. — Что ты сейчас пьешь? — Я пью апельсиновый сок.

3. — Том, куда ты идешь? — Я иду в библиотеку. — Я всегда хожу в библиотеку по субботам.

4. — Где Джек? — Он играет в саду.

5. Джек хорошо играет в теннис.

Упражнение 9. Поставьте глаголы в скобках в Present Simple или Present Continuous.

1. Elephants (not/eat) meat. 2. He (go) to the cinema once a week. 3. He (not/watch) always a good film. 4. Uncle George always (come) to dinner on Sundays. 5. He (not/work) on Sundays, of course. 6. Look! A big white bird (sit) in our garden.

Упражнение 10. Поставьте глаголы в скобках в Present Simple или Present Continuous.

1. —What you (do) here? —I (wait) for a friend. 2. —He (speak) French? —Yes, he (speak) French well. 3. Someone (knock) at the door. 4. Don’t go into the classroom. The students (write) a dictation there. 5. The man who (read) a book is our English teacher. 6. Let’s go for a walk. It (not/rain). 7.  — Where is Joe? — He (look for) his key.   8. Don’t disturb Ed. (уровень III)

Итак, вы запомнили, что подсказкой на время глагола может быть: временное выражение или контекст. А еще подсказкой может быть сам глагол. Например, такие распространенные глаголы ниже НЕ УПОТРЕБЛЯЮТСЯ в Present Continuous. Они всегда стоят в SIMPLE.

1. love — любить
2. hate — ненавидеть
3. like — нравиться
4. need — нуждаться
5. see — видеть
6. hear — слышать
7. know  — знать
8. remember — помнить
9. understand — понимать

Упражнение 11. Поставьте глаголы, данные в скобках, в нужном времени (в Present Simple или Present Continuous.)

1. Give Ben lots of apples. He (like) them. 2. It’s quiet because the children (stay) with their grandmother. 3. I’m sorry, he can’t come to phone. He (cook) dinner. 4. — You (hear) anything? — I (listen) hard, but I (hear) nothing. 5. They (need) money to buy a car.

Упражнение 12. Начните вопросы с do, does, is, are или am.

Упражнение 13. Найдите ошибки и исправьте их.

1. She speak French very well. 2. I’m taking my umbrella because is raining. 3. I am hating hot milk. 4. Are you understanding this rule now? 5. I am liking tea. 6. He is speaking three languages. 7. I’m so dirty. I am need a bath now. 8. He is having a flat in the center. 9. Peter is in the kitchen. He cooks breakfast for the family. 10.—Where is she? —She has her English lesson.

Упражнение 14. Переведите на английский язык.

1. На завтрак я ем кашу. Но я не люблю кашу.
2. Том играет в футбол каждое воскресенье.
3. Торопись, автобус идет.
4. Мы живем в Москве.
5. Семья Смитов сейчас проживает в гостинице.

Упражнение 15. Переведите на английский язык.

1. Я учу английский язык.

Упражнение 16. Переведите на английский язык.

1. — Где Вадим? — Он играет в теннис. 2. — Он хорошо играет в теннис? — Нет, он играет в теннис плохо. 3. Я не знаю человека, который (who) разговаривает с моей мамой. 4. Я часто разговариваю с моим другом о нашей поездке. 5. Андрей поет очень хорошо. 6. Слушайте. Кто-то поет в соседней комнате. 7. Он не видит, что я на него смотрю. Он читает книгу. 8. Позвоните ему сейчас. Я думаю, что он не  спит. 9. Посмотрите на человека, который стоит у окна. Это мой учитель английского языка. 10. Джон на улице (outside). Он моет машину.

Итак, подведем итоги. Вы изучили на базовом уровне два часто употребляемых времени в английском языке (Present Simple и Present Continuous) и выполнили достаточное количество упражнений для их закрепления. На этом изучение грамматики английского языка не заканчивается. Далее осталось изучить еще два времени  — Past Simple (прошедшее простое) и Future Simple (будущее простое) и с временами пока закончим. Далее вас ждут другие разделы из цикла Грамматика английского языка для начинающих» уровень (beginner)

Прослушав этот урок может показаться, что Present Continuous используется только в тех случаях, когда действие происходит именно сейчас и что это аксиома. Но ведь есть ещё использование, когда действие происходит в какой-то настоящий промежуток времени, но в данный момент это действие не происходит. Я пишу книгу сегодня. I’m writting the book today. Но это не обязательно подразумевает, что я пишу её прямо сейчас, прямо сейчас я могу разговаривать с кем-либо, но в целом сегодня я эту книгу пишу и здесь тоже используется Present Continuous…

Упражнение 1

Добавьте окончание -ing к следующим глаголам:

Work, swim, come, play, lie, tell, get,
take, cut, drink, make, hit, sleep, try, look, walk, serve, eat, die, sit, cry,
ski, travel, smile, begin, prepare, stop, listen, shave.

Упражнение 2

Дополните предложения нужной формой глагола to be (am, is,
are).
