  • Using Windows 7 64-bit.

    This happens when I run the DVD encoding program. It used to work fine in Windows7 64-bit until 2014. Then I started getting this message when I try to start the program:

    «The application was unable to load a required virtual machine component.»

    A solution was found, which involved uninstalling a Windows update: kb:3045999. It worked for a while, but then again the same problem recurred. Over time, the fix was to uninstall a number of updates, as follows:

    wusa.exe /uninstall /kb:3045999
    wusa.exe /uninstall /kb:3022345
    wusa.exe /uninstall /kb:3068708
    wusa.exe /uninstall /kb:3071756
    wusa.exe /uninstall /kb:3060716
    wusa.exe /uninstall /kb:3080149

    Starting October 2015, after the Windows7 Service Pack got installed, all these uninstalls together don’t help. I’m unable to run my program.

    Can you tell us which updates to uninstall in order to make the program run correctly.

    Firstly, could you tell us what the program DVD is and how does it work?

    We consider some files version updated via installing these updates, so the new version file doesn’t support to run the program.

    Because you install so many updates, it is hard to determine which updates and which file in updates cause it.

    However, have you tried run the program as administrator to test? In addition to that, you can check compatibility in system and choose lower system version in Compatibility Mode to run the program. Please refer
    the link below to know how to run older programs.

    If it still fails, we suggest you perform system restore to let the PC back to the point before the updates installed.

This is known issue that is caused by KB3045999:

The application was unable to load a required virtual machine
component. Please contact the publisher of this application for more
information.

However even despite uninstalling this security update, the issue returned with one of other recent security updates.

Does anyone know which one it might have been (past 2 months I guess)? Is there anyway to work around this problem apart from uninstalling another security update?

I have some legacy apps that I know I won’t get updates for them but I need them to run occasionally.

Usually such error is caused by KB3022345, KB3045999 or KB3068708. These updates can easily be uninstalled.

Unfortunately some new update arrived. I’ve found information that this new update is KB3020370 that cannot be uninstalled. In this case there is no workaround without reinstalling Windows and blocking such update.

For me, it seems like a new updates comes along every few months that causes me the «required virtual machine component» error with some programs.
So far, these are all the updates I’ve removed and hidden to deal with the error(note that they all have KB before the number) — 3045999, 3060716, 3071756, 3088195, 3101746

Is there anyway to work around this problem apart from uninstalling another security update?

I haven’t find a workaround, uninstalling the updates was the only solution.

Могу только сказать, что на мой взгляд, при такой постановке вопроса, скорее всего ответ нет. Искренне не понимаю, зачем вообще людям требуются обновления, об истинном назначении которых имеют предположения лишь единицы, да и то со ссылок описаний майкрософта. Но это лишь моё мнение, и разумеется, он не поможет решить Ваш вопрос. Вполне могу представить себе ситуацию, когда винда регулярно обновляется автоматом и тянет за собой каждый раз эту фичу KB3045999. Скорее всего это сводит с ума. Ну а что если посмотреть за что именно отвечает эта обновка в системе, и заблокировать, или соответственно переориентировать (перенастроить) этот элемент в групповой политике компа так, чтобы он не влиял на работу портабельного приложения?

На Вин 7 перестал запускаться портативный Magic Gooddy 98. Пишет:

У меня та же самая проблема. После недавнего обновления Windows’ 7 x64 перестали запускаться некоторые старые, но для меня по-прежнему актуальные сборки на SpoonStudio (в частности, парочка сборок авторства Nikozav от 2011 года).

Правда, я немного сомневаюсь, что причина именно в обновлении KB3045999. На странице с описанием данного обновления KB3045999 на офф-сайте Microsoft’: указано, что это Security Update for Windows Server 2003, а у нас обоих система Windows’ 7. Возможно, какое-то другое обновление’ виновато, но сути дела это не меняет.

Можете посоветовать какое-то решение? Заранее спасибо!

Проверил около десятка разных сборок, насколько понимаю, граница проходит где-то между началом 2011-го и серединой 2012-го года.

Ну, в общем-то, это решение действительно очевидно даже для меня. Однако помимо всех прочих минусов предложенного решения (например, сложности при освоении и т.п.), есть ещё одно: вероятно, будут потеряны все отточенные за много лет кастомные настройки всех сборок на старом спуне (а таких у меня довольно много)

Я думал, что крутые спецы портабелизации подскажут что-то менее очевидное, но более удобное. Возможно, кто-то точно знает, с каким именно из последних обновлений конфликтует старый спун.

KB3045999 чем-то заменили. Был в скрытых обновлениях, поскольку мешал запуску портативной программы. Теперь нет ни в скрытых, ни в установленных и программа не запускается.
