Panzer Corps 2: How to avoid crashes and to fix existing ones

If you’re experiencing random crashes in Panzer Corps 2, the fixes in this article will show you how to get rid of them and prevent them from happening again.

Check if Your PC Has the Components to Run the Game

Your computer might be lacking some crucial hardware or software components required to run the game. If you fail to upgrade where necessary, the random crashes will continue to happen regardless of the fixes you apply. Many players realized that their computers lacked what it takes and were able to resolve the problem after upgrading.

We’ve laid out the minimum and recommended requirements of Panzer Corps 2 below. There’s also a guide that follows, which will walk you through the process of checking your computer’s specifications against the   requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • Operating System: 64-bit Windows 8; 64-bit Windows 10
  • Note: The game runs on Windows 7 but the developers won’t provide support for the OS.
  • CPU: 64-bit Intel or AMD Dual Core processor or better
  • System Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • GPU: NVIDIA or AMD with 4 GB of VRAM
  • DirectX: Version 11

After checking your computer’s specs against the game’s system requirements, make sure you upgrade the necessary components that aren’t up to par. After that, go on to apply the fixes in this article to resolve the crashing issue.

Grant Panzer Corps 2 Administrator Privileges

PC video games commonly encounter problems when they lack permissions to access certain system resources. If this is happening with Panzer Corps 2, it explains why you keep encountering random crashes. You can easily put an end to the issue and prevent it from occurring again if you run the game as an administrator.

Make sure you are logged into an administrator user account before you start applying this fix.

The steps below will show you how to locate the game’s EXE file and adjust its Properties to prompt Windows to grant it admin privileges whenever you run it:

  1. Launch a File Explorer window by right-clicking the Start button and clicking on File Explorer in the Quick Access menu. You can also use the Windows + E hotkey or click on the folder icon on the taskbar to launch the app faster.
  2. Once the File Explorer window is summoned, move over to the left sidebar and click on This PC.
  3. Next, go to the right side of the window and double-click on the Windows drive, which should be the Local Disk C.
  4. Immediately the folder appears, locate to the Program Files (x86) folder and double-click it.
  5. Open the Steam folder once you see the contents of the Program Files (x86) folder.
  6. After that, navigate to the Steamapps folder and double-click it once the Steam folder shows up.
  7. Open the Common folder in the Steamapps folder.
  8. Now, navigate to the installation folder of Panzer Corps 2 and open it.

The steps above will show you how to locate the game’s installation folder. However, if you didn’t install the game or Steam or both in their default directories, you won’t locate the folder following those steps.

Use the guide below instead:

  1. Open the Steam client. You can double-click on its desktop shortcut or go through the Start menu if you don’t have a Desktop shortcut.
  2. After the Steam client appears, click on Library at the top of the window.
  3. Once you see the list of games attached to your Steam account, go to Panzer Corps 2, right-click it, and then click Properties.
  4. Navigate to the Properties page on the right side of the window and switch to the Local Files tab.
  5. Now, click on “Browse Local Files”.
  6. The game’s folder will now show up.

If you installed the game on GOG Galaxy, follow these steps to locate its installation folder:

  1. Launch the app.
  2. Go to the Library section and click on Panzer Corps 2.
  3. Navigate to the game’s tab, click on More next to its title, then select Manage Installation >> Show Folder.

  8. After doing that, go to the box associated with “Run this program as an administrator,” check it, and then click on the OK button.
  9. You can now run Panzer Corps 2 and check if it crashes.

Add Panzer Corps 2 as an Administrator

PC video games are the greatest victims in False Positive cases. Files, folders, and applications are called False Positives when antivirus programs mistakenly block or quarantine them. This could be the cause of the constant crashes you’re experiencing when playing Panzer Corps 2. To resolve the issue here, add the game as an Exclusion in your antivirus program.

When you add the game’s installation folder as an Exclusion, the antivirus program will no longer scan it. The Exclusions feature is mostly called Exemptions and Exceptions, but in certain cases, you’ll have to add the game’s folder to the Whitelist or SafeList.

If you don’t know how to find the feature, go to the website of the program’s developer to find a guide that will show you the process.

However, if the Windows Security program is your system’s main protection tool, then you have to follow the guide below:

  1. Run the Settings application. You can do that by right-clicking the Start button and selecting Settings from the Quick Access menu or by pressing the Windows and I keys simultaneously.
  2. After the app’s home screen appears, navigate to the bottom of the page and click on Update & Security.
  3. When the Update & Security page shows on the screen, head to the left pane and click on Windows Security.
  4. Go to the Windows Security tab on the right and click on Virus & Threat Protection under Protection Areas.
  5. The Virus & Threat Protection interface of the Windows Security app will now open.
  6. Scroll down to the Virus & Threat Protection Settings section and click on Manage Settings under it.
  7. Once the Virus & Threat Protection Settings window appears, find your way to the Exclusions area and click on “Add or remove exclusions.”
  8. After that, click on the Add an Exclusion icon on the Exclusions page
  9. Click on Folder in the menu that fades out.
  10. Once the Select Folder dialog pops out, browse to the installation folder of Panzer Corps 2, left-click it, and then click on the Select Folder button.

Once you’ve added Panzer Corps 2 as an exclusion, run it and check for the crashing problem.

Verify the Game’s Installation Files

The crashing issue could be an indication that one or more game files are corrupt or missing. You must already understand that games, just like any other program on your computer, are made up of installation files. These files are what your CPU and GPU process to render the game on your screen. If any of these files goes missing or becomes corrupt, the game will stop working whenever your system tries to access or process it.

Resolving issues with game files involves using the gaming client to find and replace them. In this case, you can either use the Steam client or GOG Galaxy, depending on where you bought the game.

We will be showing how to use each app below.

Using the Steam Client:

  1. Open the Steam client by double-clicking its desktop shortcut or by searching for it in the Start menu if you don’t have a Desktop shortcut.
  2. Once Steam shows up, navigate to the top of the window, under the title menu, and click on Library.
  3. Once your list of games appears in the Library interface, locate Panzer Corps 2, right-click it, and then select Properties.
  4. Switch to the right side of the window to the Properties page and click on Local Files.
  5. Now, click on “Verify Integrity of Game Files” under the Local Files tab.
  6. The Steam client will now begin to check the game’s files on your system, comparing them with those on its servers. Missing, outdated, and corrupted files will be replaced automatically.
  7. The duration of the process will be dependent on the size and number of affected files, your system’s speed, and the strength of your Internet connection.
  8. Once the process completes, Steam will notify you via a dialog box.
  9. Restart the client, then launch Panzer Corps 2 and check for the problem.

Using GOG Galaxy:

  1. Open the Start menu and launch GOG Galaxy or double-click on its desktop shortcut if you have one.
  2. Once the client opens, go to the Library section and click on Panzer Corps 2.
  3. Switch to the game’s tab once it appears.
  4. Beside the game’s title, click on the More drop-down menu.
  5. Hover your mouse button over Manage Installation, then click on Verify/Repair.
  6. GOG Galaxy will now scan for and replace faulty game files.
  7. After the process is complete, restart the client and run the game to check for the problem.

Update Your Graphics Card Driver

Hell would have to freeze over for Panzer Corps 2 to run properly when your graphics card driver is faulty. Using a state-of-the-art GPU won’t gain you any points if the device’s driver is up to no good. This piece of software is responsible for translating the game’s processing data to the GPU. What does that mean? Simple: if the driver is on the fritz, the GPU won’t know what to process. So, make sure your graphics card driver isn’t the culprit behind your problems.

One way to ensure you don’t a problematic display driver is by installing its updated version. Graphics card manufacturers work with game developers to provide driver updates that resolve issues with games and optimize the performance of the GPU.

Before you update your display driver, we recommend that you remove your current installation. This way, you will make sure the corrupted driver doesn’t affect the updated version.

Follow the guide below to use the Device Manager to uninstall the graphics card driver:

  1. On your keyboard, punch the Windows and S keys together or click on the magnifying glass icon in the taskbar to open the search bar beside the Start button.
  2. After the search box appears, type “device manager” (no quotes), then click on Device Manager in the results list.
  3. When the Device Manager comes up, head to the Display Adapters drop-down and click on the arrow beside it.
  4. Right-click on your graphics card under Display Adapters and click on Uninstall Device in the context menu.
  5. Once the Uninstall Device confirmation dialog comes up, click on the Uninstall button, but make sure you check the box that prompts the tool to remove the driver software.
  6. Allow Windows to remove the driver, then reboot your PC once the uninstallation process is complete.
  7. You can also use the Display Driver Uninstaller to get rid of the driver and its leftover files. If you use an AMD card, the AMD Cleanup tool is another tool that will help you achieve the same result.

Uninstalling the graphics card isn’t a guarantee that things will go well you have to make sure the updated driver is properly installed. There are different methods that you can employ to get it right. We will be showing each method below.

Using the Windows Update Utility

Updates for Microsoft applications and operating system components are not the only items you need to download and install. You also need to get updates for your device drivers. Using the Windows Update utility gives you the advantage of installing the latest driver for your graphics card is that has been verified by Microsoft.

The only inconvenience that comes with using the utility is that the driver might not be available on Microsoft’s servers. This unavailability is often due to the long process involved with vetting applications and Microsoft’s complicated release schedule.

That said, we still recommend that you start with Windows Update. When update your system you’re also installing updates for important software dependencies such as the .NET framework.

Perform the actions below to manually check for available updates for your system and install them:

  1. Launch the Settings application. You can do this via the Start menu or by pressing Windows + I.
  2. After the home screen of the app shows up, go to the bottom and click on the Update & Security icon.
  3. Once the Update & Security interface appears, click on the Check for Updates button under the Windows Update tab.
  4. The Windows Update utility will now check for software updates that are available for your Windows 10 PC.
  5. If your PC is up to date, the utility will notify you. You’ll have to move on to the next guide in this case.
  6. If updates are available for download, however, the tool will notify you and will start downloading them automatically.
  7. Once the updates are successfully downloaded, click on the Restart Now button to allow Windows Update to restart your system and install the downloaded updates.
  8. Once your PC restarts, windows will start installing the updates. During this process, your computer will reboot several times.
  9. After the installation process completes, your PC will boot up normally.

You can now launch Panzer Corps 2 to check for the crashing problem.

Using the Device Manager

The Device Manager has always been the main built-in tool for updating device drivers. It will also help you download and install compatible driver updates for your devices. The steps below will show you how to use it to search for your display driver’s updated version and automatically install it:

  1. Go to your keyboard, tap the Windows and S keys together or click on the magnifying glass icon in the taskbar to launch the search utility next to the Start button.
  2. After the search box shows up, type “device manager” (no quotes), then click on Device Manager once the results list appears.
  3. Once the Device Manager window comes up, navigate to the Display Adapters drop-down and click on the arrow beside it.
  4. Right-click on your graphics card under Display Adapters and click on Update Driver from the context menu.
  5. Click on the “Search automatically for updated driver software” option under “How do you want to search for drivers” once you see the Update Driver window.

Your OS will now begin to search for your latest video card driver on the Internet and automatically download and install it. After Windows successfully updates the driver, restart your PC and check if the crashing issue in Panzer Corps 2 has been resolved.

Using a Driver Updater

The Device Manager and Windows Update come with drawbacks that you won’t have to contend with if you go for a third-party program such as Auslogics Driver Updater. The app is designed to check your system for faulty drivers and install their updates automatically.

The tool only downloads and installs device drivers that are officially signed. It can also save a backup of any driver it updates to make sure you can roll back whenever you the need arises. To use the application, follow the steps below:

  1. Download Auslogics Driver Updater.
  2. Run the setup file once your browser downloads it, then click on Yes in the User Account Control dialog.
  3. After the setup wizard shows up, choose your preferred language, then use the Installation Directory box to choose where you want to install the program.
  4. After that, use the checkboxes that follow to decide whether you want to create a desktop icon, allow the program to start after your system boots starts, and send reports to the app’s developers when issues occur.
  5. Once you’ve entered your preferences, click on the “Click to install button”.
  6. After the installation process completes, start the tool and click on the Start Scan button.
  7. Once the scan is complete, you’ll find all the problematic drivers on your system. If your graphics card driver is on the list, click on the Update button to allow the tool download and install its latest version.
  8. Restart your system once the process is complete, then check if the game crashes again.

Increase the Size of Your Paging File

There are times when the system’s main memory gets filled and can’t hold any more data. When this happens, Windows activates a virtual memory, known as the Paging File or Page File, to complement the memory and hold extra data. If the Paging File’s size is insufficient, it could cause the game to crash randomly. Normally, Windows can easily manage the file on its own, but you might have to manually increase it to resolve the problem. The following guide show you what to do:

  1. Double-click on any folder on your desktop or click on the folder icon in the taskbar to launch a File Explorer window. You can use the Windows + E keyboard combo to launch the program faster.
  2. After the File Explorer window shows up, go to the left pane, locate This PC, right-click on it, and then select Properties from the context menu.
  3. Once the System window shows up, go to the left pane and click on Advanced System Settings.
  4. Once you see the Advanced tab of the System Properties dialog window, click on the Settings button under Performance.
  5. After the Performance Options dialog box appears, switch to the Advanced tab.
  6. Go to Virtual Memory and click on the Change button.
  7. Once the Virtual Memory dialog box pops up, uncheck the box beside “Automatically manage paging files size for all drives.”
  8. Next, highlight the volume where the paging file resides, then click on the radio button for “Custom Size”.
  9. Now, adjust the initial and maximum sizes to a higher value. It’s recommended that the size is double your system memory’s capacity.
  10. Click on Apply and OK in all the dialog boxes that are open, and then run the game to check for the issue.

Conclusion

You might have to contact Flashback Games’ support department if the game continues to crash after applying the fixes above. You’re welcome to use the comments section below to share your thoughts on the issue or ask questions.

Panzer Corps 2 crashes? Game not starting? Bugs in Panzer Corps 2? Solution to most technical problems.

If Panzer Corps 2 crashes, Panzer Corps 2 will not start, Panzer Corps 2 not installing, there are no controls in Panzer Corps 2, no sound in game, errors happen in Panzer Corps 2 – we offer you the most common ways to solve these problems.

Be sure to update your graphics card drivers and other software

Before letting out all of your bad feelings toward development team, do not forget to go to the official website of your graphics card manufacturer and download the latest drivers. There are often specially prepared optimized drivers for specific game. You can also try to install a past versions of the driver if the problem is not solved by installing the current version.
It is important to remember that only the final version of the video card driver must be loaded – try not to use the beta version, since they can have some terrible bugs.

Do not also forget that for good game operation you may need to install the latest version DirectX, which can be found and downloaded from official Microsoft website.

Panzer Corps 2 not starting

Many of the problems with games launching happen because of improper installation. Check, if there was any error during installation, try deleting the game and run the installer again, but before install don’t forget to disable antivirus – it may often mistakenly delete files during installation process. It is also important to remember that the path to the folder with a game should contain only Latin characters and numbers.

You also have to check whether there is enough space on the HDD for installation. You can also try to run the game as an administrator in compatibility mode with different versions of Windows.

Panzer Corps 2 crashes. Low FPS. Friezes. Hangs

Your first solution to this problem install new drivers for a video card. This action can drastically rise game FPS. Also, check the CPU and memory utilization in the Task Manager (opened by pressing CTRL + SHIFT + ESCAPE). If before starting the game you can see that some process consumes too many resources — turn off the program or simply remove this process from Task Manager.

Next, go to the graphics settings in the game. First – turn off anti-aliasing and try to lower the setting, responsible for post-processing. Many of them consume a lot of resources and switching them off will greatly enhance the performance, and not greatly affect the quality of the picture.

Panzer Corps 2 crashes to the desktop

If Panzer Corps 2 often crashes to the desktop, try to reduce quality of the graphics. It is possible that your PC just does not have enough performance and the game may not work correctly. Also, it is worth to check out for updates — most of today’s games have the automatic patches installation system on startup if internet connection is available. Check to see whether this option is turned off in the settings and switch it on if necessary.

Black of black screen in the Panzer Corps 2

The most common issue with black screen is a problem with your GPU. Check to see if your video card meets the minimum requirements and install the latest drivers. Sometimes a black screen is the result of a lack of CPU performance.

If everything is fine with your hardware and it satisfies the minimum requirements, try to switch to another window (ALT + TAB), and then return to the game screen.

Panzer Corps 2 is not installed. Installation hangs

First of all, check that you have enough space on the HDD for installation. Remember that to work properly installer requires the declared volume of space, plus 1-2 GB of additional free space on the system drive. In general, remember this rule – you must always have at least 2 gigabytes of free space on your system drive (usually it’s disk C) for temporary files. Otherwise, the games and the other software may not work correctly or even refuse to start.

Problems with the installation may also be due to the lack of an internet connection or it’s instability. Also, do not forget to stop the antivirus for the time game installation – sometimes it interferes with the correct file copy, or delete files by mistake, mistakenly believing they are viruses.

Saves not working in Panzer Corps 2

By analogy with the previous solution, check for free space on HDD — both on where the game is installed, and the system drive. Often your saves are stored in a folder of documents, which is separate from the game itself.

Controls not working in Panzer Corps 2

Sometimes the controls in game do not work because of the simultaneous connection of multiple input devices. Try disabling gamepad, or, if for some reason, you have two connected keyboards or mouses, leave only one pair of devices. If your gamepad does not work, remember — the games usually officially support only native Xbox controllers. If your controller is defined in system differently — try using software that emulates the Xbox gamepad (eg, x360ce — step by step manual can be found here).

No sound in Panzer Corps 2

Check if the sound works in other programs. Then check to see if the sound is turned off in the settings of the game, and whether there is correct audio playback device selected, which is connected your speakers or headset. After this check volumes in system mixer, it can also be turned off there.

If you are using an external audio card — check for new drivers at the manufacturer’s website.
