Ошибка при установке debian virtualbox

Trying to install from debian-6.0.3-i386-businesscard.iso fails on VirtualBox on a Windows 7 machine. I have tried a number of times and used several different mirror sites for downloading files but the error is always the same. I get the error dialog:-

Looks like there is a problem here with file size definition. Where is the file size defined?

Install looks to expect that the file size is 51.3kB but the actual file size on all the mirror sites I’ve checked is about 297kB so if its checking file sizes being downloaded no wonder it fails.

One question — is there a way I can copy the syslog file from VirtualBox/Debian to Windows 7?

Can you open another terminal using alt+f2 during the pause of installation ?
if yes, Have you tried this one command suggested by syslog ?

don’t forgot to fire «apt-get update» afterwards, to make sure you have no problem reaching and updating from the mirror you’ve chosen.

For the shared folders, afaik, you need to enable guest addons after succesfully install the guest OS. Use the tutorial here :

Otherwise, depending on your networking setting between host and guest machine, you can set up public ftp server (filezilla, perhaps) on the localhost and wget from there. But if you want to access the file during installation, i think it would be easier to create usb bootable installation media and just put the file into it, or else just make the usb devices automatically attachet to the guest machine, and mount it afterwards

Are you using netinst CD? If so, try using the CD #1 or better yet DVD #1
Install only base system then check if its networking and see whether it can connect to the said mirrors.

Really very, very helpful. I can now copy log files to USB and view them rather more easily in win7. When I get back into using Linux I should be able to manage without it but its been 15 yrs since I last used any version of Linux and my brain is not what it used to be;)

I have finally actually managed to get Debian installed. I used the primary mirror in France — http://ftp.fr.debian.org/debian/ — although even then I don’t think all files were download correctly but I had no errors notified on screen.

Having managed to get full copies and been able to view the various syslog’s of the failing installs I’ve actually decided the the error is probably down to some wierd networking error. Maybe some odd interaction between Win7 and VirtualBox/Debian.

Yes, I have been using the netinst CD and I wouldn’t normally expect any network problems. My system is usually quite happy downloading even very large files without problems. My machine is currently connected to a local domain via a wireless connection. I am going to try using a wired connection to see if that makes a difference.

I have installed using CD #1 and again don’t see any obvious network issues but I think there maybe some files that are not downloaded correctly if I select additional file groups to load at the end of the install although there were no errors reported on screen.

Using either install the network setup appears to have no problems and the local domain is found immediately with no delay at all.

As to accessing the various mirror sites. I have been able to connect to all those I’ve tried — all the UK mirrors + us, de and fr main mirrors — although one gave noteable issues and failed much sooner in the install. That was the uk site «http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/ftp. … rg/debian/». Download speeds have also generally been quite high and in most cases near the max limit for my internet connection at around ~6000kbps.

I’m currently downloading the DVD you suggested — that’s downloading at about 5700Kbps. I will try an install from that but I would really like to find out what the issue is with the failing installs.

That is what I was trying to say. I mean, your host OS may have no problem with internet connection. But your virtualbox network configuration which affects your guest Debian installation maybe the source of the problem.
To test it out, given that you’ve got the CD#1 already, try install with minimum install ( base system only ). After that check from within your virtualbox guest Debian installation, if it can reach the said mirrors.

I think I have just found the solution and I have now been able to install using the netinst CD from one of the mirrors I was having problems with without any problems at last.

I have change the network setup from NAT to Bridged Adapter. Looking through the VirtualBox manual it looks as though this means VirtualBox talks directly to the network hardware rather than going though the host machine’s (Win7) driver. There are various issues that can happen when in NAT mode and I guess I was getting hit by one of those.

For anyone still struggling with this, I finally managed to fix it (albeit on Parrot) by upping the disk size to 32 GB I tried 8GB, 10GB and 20GB but that was apparently not enough! I also tried messing around with many other settings including boot orders and RAM but that was not it either.
Nor was it the ISO in my case but increasing the size to 32 GB worked. Hope this helps.

I was having the same problem on my Windows 10 workstation with Virtualbox failing.

To resolve this I increased the disk size from 8GB to 32GB.

You don’t need an internet connection to install the base system. You can install it and then troubleshoot the connection from the Debian terminal. You can install all the packages you need once it is fixed. Try selecting a different repository like http://httpredir.debian.org/. Also check your VM settings to make sure the necessary ports are open and that the network settings are correct. Disable any firewalls.

Just skip tasksel step and go to the grub installation. Later you can install any package you need from a terminal. Worked with 8GB virtual disk

I was able to install it on VirtualBox with a 26GB disk (VDI).
I tried to set the VHD with lower values, without success.
Thus, I think that must be a minimum size around 26GB for VirtualBox.
Also, try to set All files in one partition /, as stated here.

I’m running Debian 10 w/ KDE.

I was having the same problem on my Windows 10 workstation with VMWare player.

It is all about disk space. Just increase it from 20 to 40 GB. Done.
