Do you have a backup of the site to restore it?
What PHP version is set on the server / folder ?
htaccess and web config? What are you running on your server Apache or IIS?
Remains as Error 500?

Some news: I used Reinstall the files of the core of Joomla, and it happened that on Mac I can see my sites and everything is fine, but on Windows some modules are missing.

Now the problem is completely different: on Mac work, on Windows only partial.

My PHp vers. is 7.1
I use «.htaccess» file activate and last vers. of web.config file.
All run on Apache web server.

OK so if it runs apache web.config has nothing to do here (it is just for IIS when is on a windows server machine).

So if on mac works and windows does not might be that:

The module or component loads images that are pointed to localhost of the MAC, and you are having live the localhost. Turn off the MAMP and clean cache of the browser(s) and see if everything is right or missing.

Are you on multilingual?

I have nothing on local Mac, all is on the server on my hosting.

Yes 1 is multilingual but on the other server in the same hosting and I have same problem.

Sounds silly, but have you checked that the other module is properly sert to the correct language?
Sometimes happen that the exact module needs to be shown in separate languages and is only shown for a specific language. Unless the module is set to «All», might be the problem.

If is that case do a copy and set the original at main language and the copy(ies) to the other language(s).

Run the FPA, copy the result, and then post it. FPA is formatted so you can just copy the result and paste it.
Since FPA does not post automatically, the other things you mentioned are right.

No but it will influence uploading of extensions and content so it needs to be changed. I am pretty sure that your server’s «open base directory» is causing this. Ask your host to disable this directive. It has no value in a proper configured (!) server

I havn^t installation on localhost, all is on my hosting.
I reinstall my old site in a subdomain and update them to vers. 3.9.2 and all work fine. When update to vers. 3.9.3 and whatch them for example with Opera browser with my iMac it work fine. But if I whatch it with Opera in my Pc windows I can’t see many part of my site. Menu don’t work, some module don’t show, some images don’t displayed.
I also noticed that if I do a resize of the browser window, some images appear.

Have you cleared all temporary files from the browser cache and also from Joomla? Some templates have their own cache and your JoomlArt template probably has one, too.

Second point, use a browser, for example Google Chrome, that has a javascript console, where you can check if the page has javascript errors, which effectively stop all javascript functions.

This is a part of the error found with Javascript Console in Google Chrome.

The link in the error messages points to an instance of the jQuery file jquery.min.js in the cache. The MIME type ‘text/x-js’ should be the standard ‘application/javascript’, IMHO. The refusal of the browser to run javascript is probably a side effect from the recommendation in the Joomla 3.9.3 release to fix one of the low priority security issues, browser side MIME sniffing.

Edit the file .htaccess and comment out the new Header line, introduced in Joomla 3.9.3, and hopefully you will see the javascript errors disappear.

It would be interesting to know what sets the incorrect MIME type — the web server or the caching system of your template. If the above modification does not work, change the default template to Protostar, clean the cache in both Joomla and the browser and see if the javascript errors disappear.

Glad to hear that it is now working.

It would be difficult to identify the root cause without the same paid template and its framework. Maybe others have a similar issue without those extensions. I will therefore post to ‘Discuss Joomla! 3.9.3’ in the Accouncement Discussions and refer to this topic.

If you upload the following script to the Joomla folder and save it as ‘mime-check.php’, it can help us to eliminate your template framework and focus on the MIME type configuration of the web server as the root cause of the original issue.

Browse to the script and it will display the MIME types of the different jQuery scripts in the media folder.

The URL of what I believe is the cached version comes from the error message you posted earlier. If the address has changed, the script will display a PHP warning. You can then view the HTML source code of the home page and get the new path from there. The MIME type may still be the same as the other two, though.

Your server sent a normal response to the MIME types. Therefore it looks like the MIME type ‘text/x-js’ that browsers cannot execute comes from the template framework your site uses.

Do you know if your paid template has updates? The latest version of the JoomlArt T3 Framework or the JA T3v2 System Plugin is 2.7.6 and your site may be a couple of updates behind.

It is probably nothing to worry about because the new Header directive that we turned off was introduced due to only a low priority security issue.

Apparently the prefix ‘x-‘ in a MIME type means that it is non-standard and has not been registered with the ‘Internet Assigned Numbers Authority’ (IANA). No wonder browsers do not want to run those scripts when strict type checking is enabled.

I just update all yesterday tamplate e T3 Framework, but if I uncheck new Header in htaccess the issue reappears. This only in browser of Pc Windows system.

I updated after login from the panel of administrator

There was a message for update version at 3.8, I clicked the button and after then the bar went to 100%.

Same problem. HTTP ERROR 500, for administration only. The site is working.
Updated from 3.7.4 to 3.8.0.
It seems some PageBuilder problem:

@polux1 Rename public_html/administrator/modules/mod_sppagebuilder_admin_menu then update sppagebuilder.

2. Download this package
3. Upload it to your site root and extract it with file manager.
4. Remove installation folder.
5. Then use this file as described here.

HTTP ERROR 500

No folder input and no file input.php

I have a similar problem after update from Joomla 3.7.5 to Joomla 3.8. What’s happening?

Another datapoint. Running postupdate.php brings up:
Call to undefined method JVersion::refreshMediaVersion()

but then clicking on any of the menu items gets:
«Undefined class constant ‘PRODUCT'»

A bit off topic.
I get HTTP ERROR 500 before updating from 3.7.5 to 3.8 just after clicking on ‘Install the Update’ button.
I don’t have any issues in admin area after that but I can’t go to 3.8. Framework is Gantry 5.
Any idea?

No I didn’t ask there as I don’t know if the issue is realated to them.
I will do so if there is no other solution.

my case:
fresh installed joomla 3.8 (local install with custom hosts file)
php-fpm 5.6.30
nginx 1.10.3

PHP script execution mode:
FPM mode give 500 error
FCGId mode works

No errors logged on error log file.

the problem is that the site needs a database fix…

Since you cannot get into admin you need to do it manually by code.
So first of all backup.
Then open your index.php (not in the administrator, the normal one)

between

require_once JPATH_BASE . '/includes/framework.php';

and

place

run the main site page.

Then delete the inserted code and refresh the site.

I have the same problem but this will appear if I turned to OFFLINE YES my site setting. I want to set this as my website is under maintenance but sad to say that after updating to 3.8 this happened.

I found the reason for not updating properly and doing a ajax error. (the error above appears when you use the unzip update method).

It appears that for security reasons some servers delete the file

/public_html/administrator/components/com_joomlaupdate/restore.php

So, when we do it manually (by extracting the zip file), the database is not fixed.
This is why we need one of the above fixes.

@juriemancia Check if /public_html/administrator/components/com_joomlaupdate/restore.php exist. If you wont you can disable offline mode by changing public $offline = '1'; to public $offline = '0'; in configuration.php.

I mean that in my hosting environment deletes it and we had to add it to the whitelist in order not to do so.

I have the same issue. On my localhost (MAMP), I was building a new site, and updated it from 3.7.5 and have lost everything. I normally backup using AKEEBA, but this one time I have stuffed up and didn’t back up. I am on a MAC, so I tried using Time Machine to go back a week and recall the site and database, but I have tried several ways including deleting my MAMP folder in Applications and bringing back last week folder… but MySQL stops working. After I delete the ib_logfile0,ib_logfile0,ibdata1 in MAMP I can get MYSQL to start, and I can install a new test site and everything worked, but with the site I was build I get ‘Error displaying the error page’. I did get HTTP ERROR 500 after updating joomla 3.8 at one stage, but after recalling the older version of the site back… I now get ‘Error displaying the error page’.
I am desperate to get this fixed.

Turn on error reporting to maximum (open configuration.php and set error reporting to ‘maximum’;)
Then check for error_log file using your file manager.

The error you get, if I can recall correctly is that your template cannot handle and show you the error.

I had also a 500 error.

Not so long ago I changed from php 5.6 to php 7.0
I forgot to change the upload_max_files in the php.ini for the php 7.0 version.

After changing that the update went right!

That was the solution for me too indeed. I did though change back to PHP 5.6 and then did the upgrade. After upgrade (to 3.8.2 by now) I went back to PHP 7.0 and all good.

Not sure how to update the upload_max_files but will try to find it. At least with the tip of Rolf123 I got the upgrade done, thanks!

I think when you lost your internet connection midway you can try to do the
update again using an ftp-program to the server. The internet connection
has to be stable otherwise there will be a risk off losing files.

Hello,
I am a bit late with noticing the problem after the update in November.. I have been busy lately and I am also not best programmer ever..

So I also have this error 500 and checking on the error log it shows problems in the src folder.
I tried to copy paste the src folder from another website which did fix the problem for backend and frontend for the welcome page, but then I could not open any other page.

Does the src folder contain information about a certain website and I can’t copy paste from somewhere else? Or it did fix something and the new errors come from somewhere else?

Would a manual update help in this case or not necessarily?
