At this point the app crashes. It used to work fine before, but now crashes on both psv1000 and psv2000 without any changes on the devices (no new plug-ins or updates).

Uninstalling vhbb and cleaning all its folders,, then reinstalling didn’t help. Other homebrews still work without issues.

@ramarivera VHBB is using libCURL/cURLpp, so it doesn’t depend on the sce functions and doesn’t need itls
plug-in to work with TLS 1.2 sites. It handled such sites just fine after this commit #43 more than a year ago.
I do have the itls plug-in installed and enabled, also have the iTLS-Enso app, installed the certs. Browser has no problem opening HTTPS sites and I can download .vpk
files from the vitadb site using the browser, but the VHBB app still crashes.
@CrazyCoder Then I must have done/fixed something while installing itls
because it started working after doing so.
@ramarivera Unfortunately, it didn’t change anything on my VITAs. Still crashes.
I’m also experiencing this issue, I first noticed it after updating. I’ve deleted vhbb’s folder on ux0:data, and I’ve also uninstalled and reinstalled and after reading through this thread I’ve made sure I had the tls pach, then removed it and re-applied it again to make sure I had the latest files. I’m still crashing when I download anything through vhbb. I’ve got the browser plugin and I’m able to browse github and download files so I feel certain I’ve got tls working fine.
I’m having the same issue on 3.70 with Trinity. The VHBB crashes every time when I press the download button. Older versions do the same. I attached my logs.
VHBB_2019-10-20_17-12-11.log
I can confirm this bug and nothing in the logging is suspicious. I’ll need to investigate this issue later on, I’m busy right now.
If anyone wants to use vita-parse-core in order to analyze the coredump, be my guest. You’ll need to compile VHBB in debug mode first and make it crash again or the output won’t be useful.
Edit: here is the analysis

Having the same issues. I was able to get one item downloaded and installed and now its just failing no matter what I try.
Same thing now happens to me. Can confirm that this happens with FW 3.60/3.65 (with or without Enso) as well as FW 3.68.
I saw a lot of people disappointed with this homebrew, there is no solution this error and the developer does not help us, so I really already left my position on this, and the same opinion of many people in gbatemp, forget this homebrew, is not good! Download from the browser and don’t break your head with crap!

I’m not paid a single dollar to work on VHBB and I’m really busy right now. This sort of self entitled behavior is what drives open-source developers out.
Besides, davee will take a look.

Why are you being a prick. These are people’s passion project not their jobs.

So do so and leave people who are willing to share their free time alone. The rest of us are grateful for all those useful tools.
SOLUTION?
Just need to wait. The dev already replied someone is getting to it later.
Also no need for caps.
I’m also having the exact same issue on Enso 3.65. Patiently waiting for a solution.
Having similar issue when attempting to download from VHBB.
I really think the problem is in Enso version 3.65. All problems reported are mostly in this release, I am also waiting for a solution! Thanks

No I’m on 3.60 and I also have the issue.

same issue, 3.60, freshly installed
Maybe off-topic, but I realised that vitaRTCW and vitaQuake3 also threw the same error. Im starting to think this is about storage access.
After lots of tinkering I got it working! It’s not pretty but downloading works now! I will try clean it up a bit and do a pull request. Hope this works for everyone.
Download here http://ge.tt/2UgTQi03The link opens to a ge.tt page, but the download link is not responding at all. Not working it any browser or even in JDownloader2…. I hate to ask, but can you mirror?

Sorry about that. I’m pretty new at this so wasn’t sure what service to use to share the vpk. Glad it’s working for everyone and I may try clean it up some more.

Thank you for this @pauleck ! It does look to be working with this version, and even seems to be quicker and more responsive than previous versions. Aside from removing the images and/or associates to images, what else did you change? Mainly just curious.

Thanks!
@heavymetalpirates yes removed images and also the code would update the progress bar whilst downloading the vpk. That crashed so my code doesn’t do that anymore.
I’m new to the vita hacking scene so learning as I go.

@pauleck I think this is probably the most stable version of VHBB I’ve personally worked with thus far, so you’ve done a fantastic job. I will gladly sacrifice appearance for functionality.
I’ve been meaning to study up on making some homebrew with Vita/3DS/Switch, but I have way too many ongoing projects at the moment to be adding more lol. Perhaps after finishing the development of my game…
@devnoname120 On another note, the downloads for EasyRPG Player and ScummVM still seem broken in VHBB. I believe it may just be a case of needing to update the links for these titles. ScummVM gets a 403 Forbidden error in both VHBB and in the VitaDB. EasyRPG is still downloading normally directly from VitaDB, but stalls in VHBB and freezes the app.
It’s definitely not a big deal to download and install software manually, but I wasn’t sure whether you were aware of an issue with these two titles so I thought I’d mention it.
My apologies in advance. I am a super noob to all this. I just obtained a modded Vita and I need help removing the old non-working version of the VHBB and install the newly fixed version, using the link provided in this thread. Any suggestions?
php files are parts of a website, if you downloaded it trying to get the browser, you did it wrong

Many thanks for this, works wonderfully!
I’m not sure if it’s a direct result of the crash, but it appears as though it kicks the Wi-Fi network when it happens. I wonder if that has something to do with the crash itself. I’m using 3.60 Enso myself.
On a side note, the storage location doesn’t seem to matter (as mentioned in a comment above). I tried with the SD2Vita and the internal storage on the 2000, and it crashes all the same. I did not try with my 8 GB Vita Card, mostly because it is just used for recovery purposes.
Also, thank you for the other version. I saw this program on a YouTube video and was really wanting to try it out.

I’m unable to download the VPK even after clicking several times on the download button. Could someone please provide a different download link? Thanks!
EDIT: Nevermind, saw the new link!
Thanks so much for posting this new version of homebrew browser. First time hacked my vita this weekend. I am a noob and the vhbb was not working until I replaced it with this. 10/10. This mirror/2nd link for the download worked
It seems to work now however the icons are all missing. I know it’s still a work in progress but I appreciate everything everyone’s doing to make everything work. Thanks a bunch!
Oh yeah thanks you very much guy it’s work perfectly and I’ve another problem with vitadb I’ve an error when I try to launch the site error ssl with itls Enzo 3.1 installed… It’s worked before….
Unfortunately not working for me. The download dialogue appears and then the browser (pauleck’s) just freezes :/ — I’m pretty handy with manual installs so no biggie; just reporting in case it helps.
Thanks to @devnoname120 for the original vpk and thanks to @pauleck for the updated version that allows downloading again.
Reading some of the posts here just reinforces why I also stopped being involved in opensource in general awhile back. The entitlement a substantial amount of users espouse is really unbelievable. For the most part, the ones who squawk the loudest about something not working or demanding fixes are the ones who never offer to help and have never donated a cup of coffee to the dev. I’ve watched some exceptional devs over the years just walk away thanks to the squawkers and it seems that the entitlement just gets worse as time goes on.
Hi great work was pulling my hair out at the error thought it was just my setup looks like a few have the same issue. Any chance of working icons and pics for the newer release that works?
I’ve implemented a solution that involves dynamically loading and unloading ListItemView
s as you scroll through the list. It could be improved by showing a placeholder instead of nothing while a list item isn’t loaded (yet) but I couldn’t manage to scroll fast enough to encounter this. I think the fix is «good enough» for now. I will open a PR soonish™. I also have to debug the search function that broke a bit.

I know I’m going to get flagged as disruptive content as well, but I just need to point this out to the individual above me:
He said nothing about you but about software it self.
So somehow, we’re supposed to believe that:
the developer does not help us
…isn’t an accusation towards the developer himself? Even though he himself admits that he is unable to sort the problem out, and has offered others to help? Also,
…People that blindly claim its useful when its clearly broken.
The beautiful thing about open-source, is that you’re free to submit suggestions and fixes for problems you’re having. And judging by the sheer length of your post, you clearly have more than enough time on your hands to at least help make something that a lot of people like, work again. If you’re going to put the effort to pushing insults in the original dev’s face, then at least back it up with effort from your part. Otherwise, armchair administrating a community project doesn’t make you look very good.
All of this, after a PR is made to help make this problem go away. Brilliant timing.

Title speaks for itself. Have tried deleting the data from ux0, reinstalling, trying various versions, rebuilding database. I didn’t have this problem initially but after setting up my own SD2Vita the problem now persists. Is there perhaps a plugin I need or line for config.txt I need to add? Thanks.

if you are using sd2vita, all your configs and plugins should be in ur0. Once you have done that then delete the tai config in ux0

What exactly constitutes a plugin? What exactly needs to be in there? I followed the SD2Vita tutorial, I deleted that tai folder long ago. Is there a line I need to add to the config for HBB?

Are you starting VHBB with airplane mode enabled? That causes a crash for me. Disable airplane, connect to Wi-Fi and try again.

I’m having the same issue. It also started after setting up sd2vita. That was a nightmare btw. While trying to setup sd2vita, my memory card corrupted and I had to start over from the beginning, reinstalling h-encore and everything. Anyway, I am able to download and run some things from vita HBB but some thing makes it force close. The ones I’ve noticed are, when clicking ports, and when clicking the utility PC Link. Any solutions?

Found a solution:
https://github.com/devnoname120/vhbb/issues/15I simply deleted ux0:data/vhbb/ , the whole folder and that solved the problem
Worked for me too. I just have Sony memory card. It would always crash when would scroll further down. Now it doesn’t. I’ve deleted app and reinstalled but that didn’t work. But deleting the folder inside of data did. Thanks

Vita Homebrew Browser C2-12828-1 error when launching
The screen shows the following:
An error has occurred in the following application. (C2-12828-1).

Vita Homebrew Browser
Currently running the 6.30 HENkaku Ensō and I already did the following:
Removed the software
Installed the «fix,» which did launch, but nothing appears and updating it killed it again
Rebooted several times
Has anyone had an issue with this?
Из-за ошибки C2-12828-1 невозможно продолжать играть в PS Vita или посещать веб-странички. Причина — некорректное выполнение процессов в приложении.
Способы решения ошибки C2-12828-1
Решается неисправность такими способами:
- удаление куки в стандартном браузере консоли;
- запуск консоли в безопасном режиме (на выключенной Vita зажать на 5 секунд кнопок выключения, R и PS) и активизация опции rebuild database;
- форматирование флеш-накопителя либо приобретение нового;
- переключение языка интерфейса на английский;
- переустановите игру, в которой появляется ошибка C2-12828-1.
Several people are reporting error C2-12828-1 while trying to install/run the recently released Henkaku hack for PS Vita 3.60. I have myself had the issue when I installed HENkaku the first time. Rebooting the console fixed the problem for me, but not everyone’s been that lucky. So, if you run repeatedly into this issue, and rebooting your console doesn’t help, what can you do?
Error C2-12828-1: How to fix according to Sony’s official help page
Here’s what Sony’s official help page have to say about error C2-12828-1 (please note that at the time of this writing the Sony help page that is supposed to have this help topic is down, and I had to retrieve the information from a cache)
Hangs up during a game while the application is running. This is caused by invalid processing on the application side.
If this occurs even when the system is restored, the saved data is probably corrupted.1. Restart the application. If that fails, please restart the system.
2. Reformat the PS®Vita system.
3. Delete the application’s saved data.
4. Reformat the memory card.
If the error continues to occur, please note the error code and the situation in which it occurs, and contact Consumer Services at 1-800-345-SONY (7669).
So, a few good steps to try here, although I obviously recommend to *not* call Sony for issues running HENkaku 🙂
Definitely try rebooting, and if that doesn’t work, formatting your memory card or resetting the system might help. It’s worth noting that Sony call it a problem on the application side, and the error is as generic as it gets.
There might be less dramatic solutions than resetting the entire system or formatting the card, though. See below for other tips that might work for you before you try something too “final”.
Error C2-12828-1: How to fix according to the community
Many people in our community have been running into error C2-12828-1 and here’s what some people recommend (don’t do all of those, try each one after the other and see what works for you:
- Delete your cookies in the PS Vita Browser, then try again (thanks FallenLeader)
- Try to turn off the Vita, wait for a few minutes, then turn it on again and visit the HENkaku site again.
- Try to start the PS Vita in Safe Mode (turn the Vita off, then press “R” button + PS button + Power button for 5 seconds while the vita is off) and use the rebuild database option
- format the memory card
- Reset your Wifi settings
The consensus seems to be that rebooting your console should be the first thing you try, even if you have to try it several times before you try anything more “serious”. There is some level of instability in any hack, and it seems HENkaku is no exception 🙂
