I cannot scan to PC.

checking scan folder able to be accessed.

useraccount password is correct on both copy machine and computer. Also, it has read and write access to the folder.

hostname is correct.

using default port.

but cannot scan to PC. It is always error «completed with an Error 018-763: char convert error in SMB»

User report that it has worked before. Does it relate to SMBv1?

Can you please check this issue, the issue persist for 4 days now.

Where it isn’t a Xerox product I have no access to spar firmware for it, but it is probably SMBv1 causing it.

They have information here, and your model is listed as supporting SMBv2. (But it may need what is called a Spar firmware to actually make sure it works, and due to it being a FujiXerox vs a Xerox I have no access to them for it)

So with that in mind.

Port needs to be 445 and not 139

Time on the device needs to be correct to within 3 minutes.

Login name should be fiully qualified, easiest way to verify that is via (type it exactly as it appears in the brackets)

Xerox char convert error in smb

В общем из-за отключения электроэнергии в здании, машина словила глюки.
Сервисник перезалил софт, в целом машина заработала, а вот с сетевым сканированием проблема.

До этого сетевое сканирование работало !

Сканируется на одну из машин в офисе, в открытую для доступа папку scan, так же на компьютере создан пользователь scan с полными правами, конкретно под сканирование.

Дсишка и компьютер в одной сети.

Через web-интерфейс захожу на дсишку, настраиваю сканирование след. образом, например для BW0GUEST.

Name: BW0GUEST
Username: guest

Маилбокс, емаил, факс, фтп — все галки снят.

Я пишу:
Address: Printscan
Username: scan
Password: ****

Остальные настройки не принципиальны..

Однако, если после сохранения снова зайти в редактирование BW0GUEST, можно увидеть, в настройках SMB:

Address: smb:Printscan
Username: scan
Password: ****

То есть, после сохранения дисишка изменяет параметры, мне сказали что это вроде как нормально и так и должно быть.

К сожалению я уже не помню как настраивали сканирование до сбоя, но вроде бы точно так же и все работало.

А сейчас не работает сканирование, документ сканируется, машина сигнализирует что все в порядке, но в папке на компьютере не появляется.

Сетевые настройки у машины те же что были до сбоя.

Кто-нибудь сталкивался с подобным или у кого работает сетевое сканирование через smb, подскажите настройки ??

ps: есть ли у кого Руководство администратора для dc 242 в электронном виде ? Мне диска от прежнего владельца не досталось, раньше можно было вроде скачать на оф. сайте xeroxa, но теперь там его нет. ((

Xerox char convert error in smb

Вопрос

на сервере Windows Server 2012 R2 есть сетевая папка SCAN_3345,
в неё по локальной сети настроено сканирование по SMB с МФУ Xerox WorkCentre 3345.
права доступа на папку SCAN_3345 у учётки, от имени которой идёт сканирование, всё есть.
доступ по лок.сети к этой папке есть у Win7 и у Win10 (это SMB v2.1 и v3.0).
официально МФУ Xerox WorkCentre 3345 имеет поддержку SMB v1.0 и SMB v2.0.
ещё судя по команде Get-SmbServerConfiguration выполненной на Windows Server 2012 R2:
EnableSMB1Protocol : True
EnableSMB2Protocol : True

вообщем, всё настроено строго по инструкции (и проверено, что работает при сканировании на другие компы с W10).
но сканирование не происходит, МФУ выдает ошибку «File exist or the failure is unspecified» и скан-файл в сетевой папке не появляется.

подскажите, куда копать в такой ситуации.
есть ли какие утилиты, способные показать в локальной сети все сервера/компы с версиями SMB, которые они поддерживают. может быть на Windows Server 2012 R2 осталось какое-либо ограничение на SMB v1.0 и SMB v2.0 (несмотря на результат Get-SmbServerConfiguration) ?

Xerox WorkCenter 6605 – Scan To SMB Error – Invalid SMB Share Name Specified

I was trying to configure network scanning on a brand new Xerox WorkCenter 6605 network printer. I managed to specify the SMB details via printer’s web interface but despite hours of playing with different configuration settings I was unable to get the network scan working.

Here is the Error

Error No. 031-523
Scan To SMB Error – Invalid SMB Share Name Specified.
Please Check the SMB Server settings and confirm the Share name or contact your System Administrator.

Scan to SMB Error

I spent about 3 hours in trying with different values and combination for “Login Name (if required by host):“, “Name of Shared Directory:” and “Subdirectory Path (optional):” but none of these combinations worked.

I contacted Xerox support which was picked up by a girl in Philippines. While still on phone with her and trying to play around with the values I managed to get it working with the following settings:

This setting will give you a path which you can enter in Windows Explorer and able to see the folder.
In my case if I copy 192.168.254.10Users ShareScanned Documents and pasted in windows explorer I’m able to see the folder’s content.

So the trick here is to first identify your host by IP address, then find a top level folder and finally a sub folder (optional).

Avoid entering any forward or backward slashes in any of these two folder paths.

The biggest pain was figuring out the login name. After some search I found confusing answers. In one Xerox forum posts it was mentioned to specify DOMAIN/username and on a Microsoft support page they mentioned DOMAINusername – pay attention to the backward and forward slashes. For me it’s just the username worked.

Once I figured that out the next problem was finding the path for folders. I was making mistakes in adding slashes before the folder names which is not required.

And as you might have already guessed it is a Windows Network (Windows 2003 to be precise).

Xerox char convert error in smb

Hi I have a very weird and frustrating problem.

I can scan to a share on my windows network by going manually through the following on the device:

Scan To > Network > SERVER-NAME > Share Name

Including entering username and passwords etc

This works so i understand that the printer and server can talk no problem with firewalls

I set up a contact with the exact same path, username and password

Every time i scan to the contact get the 018-673 error even though in the Recipient information i can see that the path is correct.

I changed the port to 445 in accordance with a post i found here

018-763 The character code conversion process in the multifunction machine has failed during
the scanner (scan to PC) SMB transfer.
Procedure
1. Check whether the server name, shared name, path name, etc. contains machine-dependent
characters such as (special symbol), (number symbol), IV (roman numeral), and etc.
2. If it contains any machine-dependent characters, edit it so that the name no longer contain
any and operate.

Easiest fix will be to use the IPv4 address instead of the host name, and no, I cannot explain why it lets you browse there but not type it in when theoretically the name has to be the same one.

Xerox char convert error in smb

Hello to everyone, I have a little problem with Xerox 6515DN.

I brought this MFP two weeks ago and I have installed it in a little LAN with WindowsServer2012 Domain.

I have configured the «Scan to..» option to save the .pdf file in a share folder archive in the server, always was good.

The MFP saw the LAN perfectly.

Now, I don’t have change anything, the MFP doesn’t search in the LAN. When I try to search in the SMB LAN, it report to me that there is «Suddenly communication error». When I try to send a pdf scan to server, that I have saved in «Contacts», the MFP reports to me the error: 018-763: char convert error in SMB.

I hope that someone can help me.

Something certainly has changed, and it almost certainly is on your server, not the printer.

The 6515 is fully certified to work via SMB2 and 3, so for it to fail for the above reason, I would assume the scan was setup using port 139, when it should be port 445.

As for the Discovery portion, I am looking into what may have caused that and will edit this post when I find something.

— restart Xerox MFP

Now it works, I can send pdf to server without any problem.

I can explore the network without problem.

Actually for me the error 018-763: char convert error in SMB was an SMB authentication issue. I discovered that when I edit the record to correct the path I have to enter the password again. I’m just using port 139 which was the default. Now it works for me, but the other posted solutions did not. I’m working with a Versalink C405 and Versalink C605.

If port 139 is listed as the default on your device, then the firmware is out of date and should be updated

I just got off the phone with a customer and what happened was the address book entry had the Share field filled entirely with the path. that in itself was a problem, but the invalid character was that when they tried to enter the entire path, instead of a forward slash (/), they had a backward slash () which is an invalid character for a directory path.

I explained that the share should only have the share name designated for that folder and to enter the folder(s) within that share

ex: Scans is the share name and they have Employees and subfolders within (Alice, Bob, Charlie, etc.) Scans would be entered in the Share field and in the Document path for Alice, it would be Employees/Alice. For Bob, it would be Employees/Bob and so on.

I cannot scan to PC.

checking scan folder able to be accessed.

useraccount password is correct on both copy machine and computer. Also, it has read and write access to the folder.

hostname is correct.

using default port.

but cannot scan to PC. It is always error «completed with an Error 018-763: char convert error in SMB»

User report that it has worked before. Does it relate to SMBv1?

Can you please check this issue, the issue persist for 4 days now.

Where it isn’t a Xerox product I have no access to spar firmware for it, but it is probably SMBv1 causing it.

They have information here, and your model is listed as supporting SMBv2. (But it may need what is called a Spar firmware to actually make sure it works, and due to it being a FujiXerox vs a Xerox I have no access to them for it)

So with that in mind.

Port needs to be 445 and not 139

Time on the device needs to be correct to within 3 minutes.

Login name should be fiully qualified, easiest way to verify that is via (type it exactly as it appears in the brackets)

на сервере Windows Server 2012 R2 есть сетевая папка SCAN_3345,
в неё по локальной сети настроено сканирование по SMB с МФУ Xerox WorkCentre 3345.
права доступа на папку SCAN_3345 у учётки, от имени которой идёт сканирование, всё есть.
доступ по лок.сети к этой папке есть у Win7 и у Win10 (это SMB v2.1 и v3.0).
официально МФУ Xerox WorkCentre 3345 имеет поддержку SMB v1.0 и SMB v2.0.
ещё судя по команде Get-SmbServerConfiguration выполненной на Windows Server 2012 R2:
EnableSMB1Protocol : True
EnableSMB2Protocol : True

вообщем, всё настроено строго по инструкции (и проверено, что работает при сканировании на другие компы с W10).
но сканирование не происходит, МФУ выдает ошибку «File exist or the failure is unspecified» и скан-файл в сетевой папке не появляется.

подскажите, куда копать в такой ситуации.
есть ли какие утилиты, способные показать в локальной сети все сервера/компы с версиями SMB, которые они поддерживают. может быть на Windows Server 2012 R2 осталось какое-либо ограничение на SMB v1.0 и SMB v2.0 (несмотря на результат Get-SmbServerConfiguration) ?

Xerox char convert error in smb

I have been using the 3635 scan via SMB on two XP machines without issue for the last few years. Recently we decided to upgrade one of the machines to 8.1 and we are having one heck of a time getting the scan via SMB to work. It is still working on the other XP machine with no issue. We created a new folder on the 8.1 machine and set it up to be shared.

It was working fine for a few days from the first day we got the new client, however there was an automatic windows update that happened a few days later and one morning we came in and all of a suddeny the scan via smb would not work when it was working the night before.

Now, no matter what we do, we get the error «Job failed due to file access denied». Below is what we have entered into the fields (which is the same way it is entered for the XP machine). The file properties for the folder is set to shared on the Win 8.1 machine, so I am wondering if there is a slightly different way to fill out the fields because it is an 8.1 client? I have seen a previous post where someone mentioned having to put the domain/workgroup name in CAPS / your username, however we tried that as well and still got the same error. The software version we are using is 20.105.01.010

First, I’ve created a new user on my system called «Tigress» with password «scan». Next, I’ve created a folder on the Desktop called «XeroxScans» and it is shared and has read/write access by «Everyone».

сканирования. Одновременно по сети может передаваться до трех работ. 
Или в системе не хватает места для создания новой работы сканирования. 
Подождите немного и попробуйте еще раз. Если неисправность не 
устраняется, выключите и снова включите аппарат.

При входе на сервер SMB для сохранения данных сканирования с 
помощью режима сканирования на компьютер обнаружены следующие 
ошибки, связанные с указанным совместным именем:
• Данное совместное имя не существует на сервере.
• Данное совместное имя содержит недопустимые символы.
• Компьютеры Macintosh не имеют право доступа к ресурсу с совместным 

именем.

Убедитесь, что совместное имя указано правильно.

При входе на сервер SMB для сохранения данных сканирования с 
помощью режима сканирования на компьютер достигнуто максимальное 
число пользователей.
Выполните одно из следующих действий:
• Проверьте максимальное число пользователей, разрешенное для 

одновременного доступа к совместной папке.

• Проверьте, не достигнут ли максимум для числа пользователей, 

которым разрешен одновременный доступ на сервер.

Ошибка сервера HTTP. Проверьте, существует ли на сервере HTTP 
указанный раздел и папка, и попробуйте еще раз. Если неисправность не 
устраняется, обратитесь на горячую линию Xerox.

имя файла и попробуйте еще раз.

Указанная папка или файл не существует на сервере HTTP. Измените имя 
папки или файла.

Работа отменена, так как файл с таким именем уже существует. Выберите 
для настройки [Конфликт имени файла] любую другую опцию, кроме [Не 
сохранять].
