Hello. I have been spending the last few weeks trying to overcome an issue with MacOS installing packages. My Mac keeps saying com.apple.installer.pagecontroller error -1 when trying to install a software package. I have completely wiped my macOS Monterey installation (clean install) to try and resolve this issue but it did not resolve it. I encountered this issue after getting hit with some Mac malware that wiped out my Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (ATP) security software and created this page controller issue. My permissions say in Disk Utility First Aid that everything is good but when trying to modify permissions, I constantly receive a permissions denied even with root user and in recovery mode. I am not sure what else to do to resolve this issue. I am running latest version of macOS Monterey on a 2021 M1 Pro 14inch MacBook Pro. I have seen reports of people facing the issue in older versions of OSX but nothing for this latest version. Does anyone know of this issue and how to resolve it?

I have an objective-c application developped with Xcode 4.2.1. and I failed to get the application package (Archive/share/Mac OSX App Store Package (.pkg).
I opened a new «test» project, archived and shared it as a test.pkg and get 2 kinds of error :
1 If I attempt to open the package on my MAC running Lion (the one where Xcode is running), I have an alert : «test.pkg can’t be installed on this computer».
2 If I attempt to open the package on another MAC running Leopard, I have an error message :
test.pkg can’t be opened
Installation problem
com.apple.installer.pagecontroller erreur -1
It is the .pkg which is the problem because It OK for «share/Application».
I have not yet opened my developer account and don’t know if an account is required to create a package.
It is my first objective-c application and any help will be very much appreciated.

You need to have a developer account and get certificates to sign the package.

Solution fix the error message and get Ventrilo updated.

I got the same error message one month ago when the update was released. I had not the time to look into the issue and I don’t use Ventrilo very often, so I just ignore the update available notice. I re-open my Ventrilo today, get the same update notice, try to update again, with unfortunately the same result. Then I find this thread with no effective solution.
So, I tried to understand the actual issue and resolved it by myself. I have opened my terminal to get the actual content of the pkg file. It at this point that I have found an other pkg file (mpkg in fact) inside the pkg. Therefore, I have extracted the mpkg file from the pkg and try to execute it, with success!
With more research, I have find out that the issue was my unzip application (Zipeg) and not the Ventrilo packaging itself. Each time Zipeg extract a zip, it create a directory called by the name of the zip file (without the .zip extension) and then put the zip content in it. Since the zip file is called ventrilo-3.0.13-Darwin-universal.pkg.zip, the directory is called ventrilo-3.0.13-Darwin-universal.pkg. So, OS X see this directory as a pkg file and try to execute it. That is our real issue.
How to upgrade/install Ventrilo to the latest version (3.0.13)
1. Delete all the Ventrilo package file, extract or not, that you might have already downloaded.
2. Download the latest version of Ventrilo with your web browser.
3. Open a new Terminal window.
4. Go where you have downloaded the file, usually the Download directory.
5. Unzip the zipped file.
Code:
unzip ventrilo-3.0.13-Darwin-universal.pkg.zip
6. Close the Terminal window and open a Finder window.
7. Go where you have downloaded and extracted the file, usually the Download directory.
8. Try to execute the VentriloClient.mpkg file.
9. Enjoy!

Downloaded Office 2016 for Mac software from the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center.
I have changed the ISO to a PKG file. When clicked, I get this error: «The operation couldn’t be completed. (com. apple. installer pagecontroller error -1.)»
I have also tried to change the file to DMG file and the Unarchiver or UnZip Pro does not have permission to write to the setup.exe file.
I have already disabled Gatekeeper as well restarted multiple times.
Help?

Добрый день, мною задавался этот вопрос, но… Через Finder то есть через яблочко, я скачал комбинированное обновление MacOS 10.5.5. , размером 608 МГБ. Установщик выдал: — Операцию не удалось завершить, (com.apple.installer.pagecontroller ошибка -1)Не могу открыть «MacOSXUpdCombo10.5.5.pkg».- После перезагрузки ситуация аналогичная. Без загрузки заново, как решить вопрос? Буду очень признателен.

Обновляю macOS с версии 10.5.8 до EI CAPITAN. При запуске installMacOS.pkg из загруженного обновления выдаётся ошибка «com.apple.installer.pagecontroller error-1». Чего только не делал, не уходит. И распаковал с помощью unpkg, распаковывает пустую папку. Что можно сделать?
